Yes. I recognize so much of what you're saying here, and have struggled with it too. Especially the bit about not being able to get anything done except sleep and video games, and the unhelpful advice. I know I have the time, or I should anyway, but somehow I don't. Every time bedtime rolls around, I look at what I haven't done that day, and I have a crushing sense of inadequacy, which only makes things worse. I know that, but I still have a hard time breaking the cycle.

I know what you mean here. I struggle myself with "finding the time" to write meaningful blog posts and practice my religion. It seems easier, somehow, to just do mindless things on the computer or lose myself in a book or occupy myself with all sorts of small unimportant tasks until, almost before I know it, there isn't enough time to work on the important things. And the longer those things get put off, the harder it is to break the cycle and start doing them again.

My own daily routine of prayer and meditation has fallen apart lately, and the dust is growing on my altar as well. I want to get back and yet I know that in a week or a month or however long I'll probably be having the same problems with finding time. It begins to feel like something I am forcing myself to do because I think I ought to do it, rather than something I am doing because I want to.

Just this morning I emailed a copy of the Des Moines Register article to Greywolf Moonsong since he does a news segment from time to time on his podcast, A Pagan Heart in Maine. My parents still live in Iowa, and my mom had forwarded the news to me about a week ago. I made very similar comments in my email as what you say here (although I didn't express them nearly as eloquently), in particular the wish that I could somehow show my support without interfering, because I can imagine what this student must be going through. I will say, though, that I'm pretty proud of how our state is handling things, and especially proud of all the wonderful comments made in response to the Guthrie Times article. I see now that this story quickly reached the pagan community at large, and I find comfort in the thought that all of our collective wills of positive energy will bring this to a swift and peaceful conclusion. And if not, let it open some eyes.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful post that made even me feel as though I'm not alone, and I am certain it will do the same for our young hero in Guthrie Center.

I love that thinking about spiritual practice can show us how well we're doing in reality. When I pay attention to how often throughout the day I weave magic in, it's astonishing. One of the things that differentiates identifying as pagan and *BEING* pagan is the way we slowly, over time, become integrated with a magical or spiritual worldview.

Your thoughts are exciting. It sounds like you're really digging in and getting a lot out of it.

Thanks for writing about the SpiritsCast 101 series. I have often struggled with my own daily spiritual practice, so after I read your post I listened to the first lecture, which I found more enjoyable and interesting than I had expected. I made a resolution around the time of Samhain to work on my daily practice more so I think this podcast will really be helpful. I'll be interested in hearing more about how your own daily practice works out as well.
